Staying connected to family and friends is vital to a fulfilling life. Our residents and our team members have created a friendly and welcoming community. We welcome and encourage the family members of our residents to take an active part in life here.

Each month, a variety of special events and activities are held at our community which are open to resident family members and friends. These are great opportunities to spend quality time together. To see what we’re doing this month, check out our Happenings page.

Hear From Our Families

Calling it home was a big step.

She had made many steps in her life, literally and figuratively. She walked across the Brooklyn Bridge pushing a baby carriage holding the first of four children. She worked hard in and out of the home, volunteered for years in hospitals in New Jersey and South Carolina, and maintained her dignity and spirit throughout the toughest of times. She walked the halls of state office buildings, advocating for reforms in the programs and institutions for retarded children. She walked the halls of the schools her children attended, advocating for high standards in public education. Later in life she walked the beaches of South Carolina when she wasn’t cradling infants in the neo-natal unit at the hospital or working the information desk.

A lifetime of steps has brought Mom to Our Lady of Peace. Though she is now walking less, she knows she is in a good place. Her steps now take her to the dining room for excellent choices of meals. She walks to the exercise room for exercise, to the activity room for varied stimulating and entertaining games, to Mass to worship, to the foyer to hear live music, and so much more. Planned excursions let her step out too.

The community of friendship, caring, and compassion at Our Lady of Peace highlight her every day. It is Mom’s home now and she steps into each day with a smile.

Thank you to all the staff who care for so many so well.
